EYFS Beach Day July 2018
Today Pre-School, Nursery and Reception came to school ready for a very wet day. There was music, games and lots and lots of water! What a fantastic way to cool down in the heat!
And to make sure the rest of the school didn't feel left out, Miss Crawford and Mrs Billington shared the fun with the bigger children and took the water cannons out to the field at break time!
Sports Day 2018
Although we downsized the events due to the hot weather, it was still a fantastic day. The children really gave it their all and the support from their families was amazing - we had the most number of parents taking part in the parents races this year (though it has to be said that some of the sportsmanship was questionable!)
Well done to everyone for making it such a fun day. And a big well done to St. Matthew's team, this year's overall winner!
Years 5 & 6 End of Year Production - "Reach for the Sky!"
What a fantastic production again this year. Well done to Years 5 and 6 for putting in so much hard work, it really showed, and absolutely paid off!
EYFS Pyjama Day - April 2018
Pre-School, Nursery and Reception held a special Pyjama Day to help raise funds for The Lullaby Trust in memory of baby Alfie. Even the teachers joined in. There was music and dancing and so much fun was had. What a fantastic day and such a lovely way to help such a wonderful charity.
RE Open Afternoon - December 2017
Last week we invited parents in to spend an afternoon with their children creating a nativity scene to display in the hall. Each class worked on different features using different art techniques which were then put together to create one fantastic picture.
Reception made the stable using their cutting and gluing skills
Year 1 provided the angels using their cutting and gluing skills
Year 2 painted and glued sheep, cows and donkeys
Year 3 focused on the shepherds using mosaic techniques
Year 4 painted the Kings
Year 5 used chalk pastels to create Mary
Year 6 wove Joseph and Jesus
The outcome was amazing, I'm sure you'll agree.
As we do every year, we took time out over the last week to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.
The children made displays, talked about it together and bought poppies from the Poppy Appeal box. On Friday, the whole school, including our Pre-Schoolers, gathered together on the playground, held hands and held a minute's silence to honour the fallen and to mark the end of the First World War.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
