22.05.20 - Opening School
I hope this e mail finds you safe and well.
Attached to this e mail are 2 documents
a letter detailing how St Mary's will be reopening to children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I apologise that the letter and this e mail is so long but I wanted to give you as much detail as I could to explain how we are making our school as safe as we possibly can for our children, staff and parents. Please do take the time to read it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
A Parent Tips document that will be useful for parents to share with your children to help prepare them for returning to school.
We are really looking forward to welcoming some of our children back, it will be wonderful.
Named Water Bottles
All children returning to school will require a named water bottle. This is compulsory. They will need to be taken home each day and washed thoroughly in time for the next school day.
Year 6 Mobile Phones
Children in Year 6 will be allowed to bring their mobile phones to school. They must be turned off before entering the school site. They will remain on their desk throughout the day and will not be taken in by class staff. If children do not follow these simple instructions this privilege will be withdrawn. School will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to the phones whilst they are in school.
School has remained open throughout the pandemic for children of Key Workers. This will continue to be the case from Monday 1st June. To ensure I have the correct number of staff in school to support all of our children. I would ask that Key Workers of children in Years 2, 3, 4, & 5 contact me by the Friday of the week before to inform me which days your children will be in school the following week.
With lots of children still learning remotely, work will continue to be set via Class Dojo. With more staff now in school, we will be reviewing how this work is set and will update you during the first week back after half term.
School staff have already started to undertake training in readiness for the children returning to school. As part of this I will be posting videos on Class Dojo on Monday 1st June to show children what school will look like when they return, and how we are going to keep them as safe as we can. Please do take the time to view them.
Today is the beginning of our half term holiday so staff will not be setting work on Class Dojo during this period.
As a school we will always be open and honest with you, I realise it is a very difficult time for all of you and maybe even more for those of you that are deciding whether to send your children back to school.
I hope the letter attached to this e mail, outlining our plan, will as much as it possibly can, reassure you that although we cannot guarantee 100% safety against this virus - no one can, we will do everything in our power to keep our children safe and happy at school. Do not hesitate to contact me at any time to ask me any questions.
I hope you all have a wonderful break with your family, stay safe and take care of each other.
